PUTTING BAPTISM IN ITS PLACE
3/15/2026 - Morning Worship
Text: 1 Corinthians 10:1-5 & Others
Theme: Biblically discovering the purpose and place of baptism.
? Why would I preach on baptism?
? What is the purpose of baptism?
If we determine this, then we understand the place of baptism
and what baptism accomplishes (or doesn’t accomplish)
The Word of God teaches two ordinances for us to identify with
Him: baptism and communion
Turn with me to 1 Cor 10. While this passage doesn’t qualify as the
“first mention” of baptism, it does refer back to the first time the
idea of baptism is used – all the way back in the OT (1 Cor 10:1-5)
These that had at one point, rejected Moses, were now willing
to be identified with him – but it was merely was an external
demonstration
Consider these key verses: Matt 28:19, 20; Acts 10:47; 8:12, 36-38;
2:36-38; 3:19
