Sermon 28: How to have a Genuine Relationship with God
Text: Psalm 51
Theme: Restoration after sin takes more than just confession.
Godly people don’t keep from committing sin; they confess their sins to reconcile with their God (Psa 32:1-6)
Some of you live with guilt like you would live with a spouse; all the while, you are married to your Saviour who has forgiven & put away your sin
I. A view of biblical confession and forgiveness (vv. 1-7)
Confession – to acknowledge or agree with or to make a profession – you are professing that you are a sinner
David is “coming clean”… and getting cleansed
After all David had done he still believed that he could be totally cleansed. WHY?
II. The value of biblical restoration (vv. 8-19)
Many Christians once they confess I believe often, wrongly believe that they are going to immediately “feel” joy and peace
The restoration of the soul (vv. 8-12, 14, 15)
Then, the restoration of service (v. 13)
