Sermon 19: How to have a Genuine Relationship with God
Text: Acts 13:22
Theme: Without a heart for God we cannot glorify Him – even as Christians.
Too often in Christianity we base our relationship with the Lord according to our relationship with sin. “If I sin less I will be closer to God”
I. What is God’s testimony about your heart? (Acts 13:22)
1Ki 11:6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.
II. The heart God is looking for in you (Acts 13:22)
Because David’s heart was in the right direction his life would be in the right direction
Key passages looking at how God directed Samuel to choose David as the next king (1 Sam 8:5, 6, 20; 13:13, 14; 16:6-12)
When the Lord looks on your heart what does He see?
? Are you doing right TO draw nigh to God or are you doing it BECAUSE you have drawn nigh to God?
