Sermon 16: How to have a Genuine Relationship with God
Text: James 1:13-15
Theme: Understanding how the flesh works can give keys to spiritual victory.
What is the one point I am trying to get across?
In this genuine relationship with God we will still face the temptation to sin, but we can have victory through the Spirit of God

I. The source of your sin (vv. 13, 14)

II. The course of your sin (vv. 14, 15)
1. Drawn away of his own lust – sinful desires,
to lure away from safety or restraint
2. Enticed - allure, deceive, to bait or catch by bait
3. Lust conceives – to take as prisoner
4. Brings forth sin – a decision is made to commit the sin
5. The result is death – the consequence and penalty of sin
Keys to victory
1. Recognize the process of sin
2. Recognize the need for help from God
3. Surrender to the Spirit instead of the flesh
