Sermon 15: How to have a Genuine Relationship with God

Text: Romans 10:1-13

Theme: A Christian's application of Romans 10.

How does one become a Christian and what happens?

2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

The righteousness of God is the rightness of God. It is His moral perfection. When I become a Christian that righteousness (associated w/ Christ) is put on my account

There are a number of references in the NT concerning the “righteousness of God”. Let’s go through some of them in Romans (Rom 1:16, 17; 3:5, 20-26; 10:1-6)

True righteousness is by God through our faith in Jesus Christ

U Righteousness is by believing, not by doing

I am not saying that a Christian should not want to see holiness in their life. BUT THE HOLINESS IS NOT AN ATTEMPT FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS, BUT AN ACT OF WORSHIP to the One that has already made us holy

SO, THE REASON I GO TO CHURCH IS NOT TO MAKE ME MORE RIGHTEOUS. THE REASON I GO TO CHURCH IS TO WORSHIP MY LORD AND SAVIOUR
