Isaiah 8-9

Israel as a nation was now divided and in one of the darkest periods of their history. The Lord promises them struggles, but further promises light through the coming of their Deliverer, Jesus Christ the Messiah.

 

 

I. The darkness of sin (Isa 8)

 

“The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin”

 

We understand that the world lives in darkness, but God’s people at times choose to live in darkness with them.

II. The Light of the world (Isa 9)

 

Key verses: Isa 9:1-3, 6, 7

 

v. 6 the perfect tense verbs see something that was completed in the past fulfilled in the future. It can also mean that the reality is so vivid that even though it has not taken place it surely will, so, it is expressed in the future.

The imperfect tense shows an incomplete action that has already started.
