Isaiah 7

It’s approximately 700 years before the birth of Christ and the preacher is Isaiah. The king is the most wicked king that Judah would have, Ahaz. As Judah lives in disgrace God offers them their only hope for deliverance. I. The coming of Christ has always been an announcement of deliverance (Isa 7:1-9) To survive themselves, the Northern Kingdom, Israel, aligns themselves with the nation of Syria and plan their attack on the Southern Kingdom of Judah. For Judah to survive, they believe they must align themselves with the Assyrians – instead of trusting in the Lord. Isaiah is announcing deliverance to an undeserving people II. The coming of Christ has always been an announcement rejected (Isa 7:10-14) The announcement of the Messiah has always been an announcement of deliverance for an undeserving people – and it has always been rejected by the nation of Israel as a whole John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. The only HOPE for Israel and the only HOPE for all mankind is found in the person of Christ
