Text: 1 Corinthians 14:1-23
Theme: Identifying the time and the place speaking in tongues should be used and shouldn’t be used.
Chapter 14 is a continuation of the subject found in chapter 12
Paul establishes that the place for tongues (known foreign language) is not in the Church – or maybe better said, not for the Church
Let’s examine 1 Cor 12:8-10 & 14:1-18
A key verse is v. 12
12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the Church.
The place for tongues is for reaching unsaved Jews
Let’s examine 1 Cor 14:21-23
A key verse is v. 23
23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
