KILMER’S KORNER January / February 2023

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10

Dear Friends,
Happy New Year! Yes, we are well into this new year, but we are blessed to still be pressing on for the Lord. Thank you so much for your help to us in our ministry! Some give financial support, for which we are truly grateful, and all can give prayer support, which is vital to seeing lives changed!!

Recently, some folks have contacted us to say they didn’t get responses to e-mails or thank you notes for special donations. We are truly sorry about that. In some cases, I did send an e-mail and am not sure why it didn’t go through. The junk mail and spam folders are famous for side lining mail one usually receives. At any rate, please forgive us if we haven’t responded, but know that we tremendously appreciate your help to our ministry in reaching the Zulu people for Christ! A special thanks to those who gave Thanksgiving and Christmas gifts.

CHRISTMAS SERVICE – Our Christmas day service went well and we had a blessed time. I preached, as well as a man in our church named ‘Peace.’ After the service, a teen girl, named ‘A’ (Andile is her full name), prayed to receive Jesus as her Savior! She has also returned to church the last 2 Sundays. I mention this because sometimes people pretend to be sincere, but there is no fruit to show that there was a repentant belief.
Please understand that attending church doesn’t save anyone from sin. We are saved when we put our complete faith and trust in Jesus Christ, wanting forgiveness and a new life in Christ. Salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone! Eph 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

However, the Bible also shows that a true belief will show in the life. The next verse tells us that after we are saved, God works in our lives and this shows in the way we live. This is a result of being saved from sin and being given the righteousness of Jesus Christ! “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” We are blessed to see ‘A’ showing some fruit.

WITNESSING - Last week, when getting certain supplies for church ministry, we needed to go to an area that has a high crime rate. As funny as it might sound, Karen went along as my bodyguard, because it is harder to rob 2 people than 1 person! There is no parking near the shop where we needed to go. When we parked the car, a security guard asked us where we were going. We told him and he said it isn’t safe. He was really worried we would get robbed (as I was 2 years ago). He asked a friend to watch his post and he accompanied us. He waited until we were done shopping and accompanied us back to the car. Along the way, I gave him a gospel tract and talked to him about the gospel. I found out that he is a born again Christian! I also gave out tracts to a few others and briefly talked to another security guard about the gospel. He was very thankful and promised to read the pamphlet.

Church Land - Construction companies shut down for 3-4 weeks over the Christmas and New Year times here in South Africa, thus no more work has been done at the church site. Today the only TLB (Tractor, Loader Backhoe) in the Fredville area was supposed to come to do more clearing, but yesterday it broke down and they are waiting for a part!

Praise: 1) For ‘A’ who accepted Jesus as her Savior! 2) For safety from theft and robbery. 3) For those who are willing to hear the gospel. 4) For those in our church who help in the work of the ministry.

Pray: 1) For ‘A’ to grow in the Lord. 2) For the Lord to raise up more laborers among the Zulu people. 3) For open doors in the coming weeks to preach at opening assembly in the schools. 4) Please pray for us at 11:11, as well as at your regular prayer times.
May God’s grace keep you strong for Him! Yithina (It is us), Uncle Don & Auntie Karen
