ACTS 13 – THE CHURCH TO THE GENTILES

The Book of Acts
Text: Acts 13
Theme: The Holy Spirit is going to lead men of the Church to take
the Gospel to the Gentiles.
Paul clearly stated that he was called to reach the Gentiles for Christ
1 TIM 2:7 … I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle… a teacher of
the Gentiles... ROM 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I
am the apostle of the Gentiles… 15:19 …from Jerusalem, and round
about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
In Acts 1:8 the phrase “unto the uttermost part of the earth” is
synonymous with the idea of taking the Gospel to the Gentiles
Follow this theme concerning the Gentiles through the book of
Acts: Acts 11:18; 13:42, 46, 47; 18:6; 28:28 (also Romans 11:11;
10:19; 11:1, 2, 5 in that specific order)
Barnabas and Saul came to Antioch in Acts 11:25, 26
Some of the passages in Acts on Antioch Acts 11:19, 25, 26; 14:26;
15:23. There are a total of 17 references
Acts 11:19-26 shows us the transition of the Gospel to Antioch
The ministry of Christ was primarily rural and small villages; while
the ministry of Paul and others was primarily urban cities (6 cities
mentioned in Acts 13)
