Theme: The Church is burdened and gifted to minister to one 
another. 
What is the one point I am trying to get across?
Some key thoughts here. The Church was immediately seeking for 
the development and maturity of believers individually and the 
Church as a whole
Antioch is about to become the “center” of Gentile Christianity
The capital of Syria
The third largest city in the Roman Empire (Rome & Alexandria)
Inhabited by a large population of Jews
Many Hellenistic Jews lived there
It is believed that the Hellenistic Jews that scattered from 
Jerusalem preached there with many conversions
vv. 20-24 The Church’s ministry
vv. 25-30 Notice how the Church begins to work together and the 
gift of prophecy 
Churches are meant to be independent and autonomous
1. Self supporting
2. Self governing
3. Self propagating
