Theme: Peter’s defense of the salvation of Gentiles.
Understanding the ministries of the Holy Spirit
With you – comforting, teaching, guiding, influencing the 
believer
(John 14-16, 1 Cor 2 Rom 8 & Gal 5 are key chapters)
In you – assuring and securing (Rom 8:16; Eph 1:13, 14)
Filling you – leading, controlling, enabling 
On you – bestowing gifts and empowering 
In Acts 11 it opens with Peter’s defense of the salvation and the 
Holy Spirit coming upon the Gentiles
This event had several major implications to the Jewish 
Christians
1. Gentiles could get saved
2. Gentiles were now joined with them in the Church
Antioch (Acts 11:19)
The capital of Syria
The third largest city in the Roman Empire (Rome & Alexandria)
Inhabited by a large population of Jews
Many Hellenistic Jews lived there
It is believed that the Hellenistic Jews that scattered from 
Jerusalem preached there with many conversions
