ACTS 10:34-48 THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Book of Acts
Text: Acts 10:34-48
Theme: The Holy Spirit has an expansive ministry in the Church. 
Let’s look at the story as Peter preaches Christ to Gentiles 
 According to Peter’s testimony the Holy Ghost was actively 
involved (and still is today) as He anointed Jesus, fell on 
those that believed, was poured out as a gift and was 
received (vv. 38, 44, 45, 47)
There are many words used in connection to the work of the holy 
Spirit: regenerates, quickens, dwells in, fill, empower, baptism, 
anointing, seals, guides, comforts, with, on, etc
What does it mean for the Holy Spirit to be “IN” a believer?
Key passages: John 14:16, 17; 1 Cor 6:19; Rom 8:9; 1 John 3:24; 
4:13
1. The indwelling of the Spirit only happens once; the filling of 
the Spirit should happen repeatedly
2. As a Christin the Holy Spirit indwells you automatically, but 
you are commanded to be filled with the Spirit
What does it mean for the Holy Spirit to be “ON” a believer?

Make these key conclusions
1. Some words like “fill” can be used to speak of several different 
truths
2. Some words will be used synonymously when speaking of the
same truth
