ACTS 10 – THE CONVERSION OF CORNELIUS
4/5/2026
Lesson 30: The Book of Acts
Text: Acts 10
Theme: This chapter shows one way that God works to bring a man
to salvation.
Acts 8 Eunuch Ham Africa & Near East
Acts 9 Saul Shem Semitic
Acts 10 Cornelius Japheth Greeks & Romans
IN THIS CHAPTER TWO MEN NEEDED TO REPENT
I. Cornelius repents and gets saved
Verses that focus primarily on Cornelius (vv. 1-8)
I personally would believe that the Ethiopian eunuch was the
first Gentile recorded in Acts to receive Christ (Acts 8:27-31)
Both the Ethiopian (Acts 8:27) who worshipped the Lord and
Cornelius (Acts 10:2) who feared God were the first two
Gentiles that were recorded to be saved
II. Peter repents and witnesses
Now the focus turns primarily to Peter (vv. 9-33)
Why did Peter need to repent? (change of belief that results in
a change of thinking, relationship and living)
1. He was a Jewish man being asked to reach a Gentile with
the Gospel (Isa 49:5, 6; 60:3; Amos 9:11, 12; John 10:16)
2. He still believed in the Jewish dietary laws (Mark 7:18, 19)
Christ had fulfilled the law
