James 4:6-10

The connection of this message to last week’s message is that Christians need God’s grace to withstand Satan’s attacks (Eph. 6:10-16)

Another transition passage with a synonymous message is 1 Peter 5:6-10

I.    The need for your humility to receive God’s grace (v. 6)

II.   The activities of humility you need to exhibit (vv. 7, 8)

One of the activities from 1 Peter is casting your cares on the Lord…

There are 10 commands that express activities of humility

A key point to understand is that if you try to merely resist Satan without first submitting to God, Satan will not flee from you

Submitting to God and drawing nigh to God are synonymous ideas

What then is my main point?  In order to receive the grace needed for whatever you are going through you need a close personal relationship with God.

You cannot draw nigh to the throne of grace without first drawing nigh to God
